Some Good News,
May 9,2025
I’m honoured to share some news that means a great deal to me.
My painting Atromerius 2 (Oil on Canvas, 24 x 30 inches, 2025) (see above) has been acquired for the "Official Residences Crown Collection", part of the holdings of the National Capital Commission (NCC). I want to sincerely thank Sivarulrasa Gallery for their ongoing belief in my work and for helping make this acquisition possible. I also wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the NCC, and to everyone who has followed, encouraged, collected, and championed my work along the way. I couldn’t do this without you.
The national significance of the "Official Residences Crown Collection" cannot be overstated. It preserves and showcases artworks, furnishings, and cultural artefacts that help tell the visual and material story of Canada. To find my slightly unruly, colour-rich painting counted among those pieces is both surreal and deeply affirming. I’m deeply humbled that my work will now be part of that collection.
And there’s more.
I’m honoured to be one of the featured artists in 'Bloom', a vibrant summer exhibition at Sivarulrasa Gallery. The show runs from Saturday, July 26 to Friday, August 29, 2025, and celebrates artwork that pulses with energy, renewal, and the spirit of the season. If you're in the area, I would love for you to stop by and see it.
Thank you, again, for sharing this journey with me.
(please note, this announcement will be repeated in my upcoming news letter before the Victoria May 24th Holiday weekend.)
My Journey of Passion and Mastery.
January 27, 2025
Art isn’t just about self-expression—it’s a lively dance of discovery, growth, and connection. Over the years, I’ve woven my passion into every stroke, refining my craft and drawing inspiration from the greats who paved the way and from the world I live in.
My artistic path began long before I stepped foot in the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD), where I was fortunate to study under Gerald Ferguson—a pivotal step in my evolution. After that, I made my way to the stunning South Shore of Nova Scotia, where I lived for a decade. This chapter sparked my love for folk art, and I even opened a gallery, The Waterline Gallery, in Mahone Bay. It was a small but profound experience that showed me how art can support both an artist and a community.
Teaching fine art in the UAE was another exciting chapter, where I shared my knowledge and learned from a vibrant mix of perspectives. Writing The Artist in You with Julie Brunelle further deepened my understanding of the creative process, and offered me the chance to help other artists along their journeys.
Along the way, I’ve been inspired by masters like Marsden Hartley, Henri Matisse, and the Group of Seven, whose mastery of light and landscape continues to shape my approach. To me, art isn’t just about capturing the world—it’s about telling personal, emotional stories. And now, back in the Ottawa Valley, I’m thrilled to share my own connection to this stunning landscape through my work.
My creative process is rooted in a deep respect for color and light. I love using contrasting colors to create depth, breathing life into each piece and capturing the dynamic play of light.
I’m excited to showcase my latest collection, Still Life, Still Talking, at Sivarulrasa Gallery in Almonte, Ontario. Opening is February 8th, 2-4 and the show runs until March 14,2025. This body of work continues my exploration of light and color, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
After years of training, teaching, and creating, I’m proud of the work I’ve done and the relationships I’ve built. The journey isn’t over—there are always new creative frontiers to explore, and I can’t wait to continue sharing my passion with a broader audience. Thank you to everyone. I am so grateful for all the help along the way.
